A Thought for Today
We come into the world alone, we go away
the same. We are meant to spend the interval in closeness, but it’s a
long time between the morning and the evening.

Arthur Greenslade
1923 – 2003
It is with a very heavy heart that I bring to your attention the sad news
of the passing of my dear friend and collaborator Arthur Greenslade. He
died on Thursday morning November 27 at 5:15 AM (local time – Sydney,
Australia.) The cause was a massive heart attack.
He is survived by his widow Irene, two daughters Irene Lowman and Tina
Stanton, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. And he leaves
behind a rich life of music making that has delighted his friends and many
millions of people around the world who only came to know him through his
music.

Each of us is special because of our differences, not despite them.

I do no expect loyalty from my friends, I
assume it.

Suffering has so many avenues we never trod
the same one twice.

LARGO |
|
Tall men of
pride,
raw like November
carry on their shoulders
their weight and more.
You see them not at dockside
but winding up the Ferris wheel
or planing beams of light
till they are straight and simple
defused and dull enough
to beautify their plainest lover.
Tall and raw as mid-November,
true men of pride concern themselves
with the worth of smaller things.
