A lifetime partnership is the best thing life can offer.

My face in the mirror has only the shadows that love has etched there.

The ability to forgive saves wear and tear on the memory.

Dear Edward,
Maybe it is time
to stop celebrating,
Little Brother,
and get on with life.
On the other hand
If we don’t celebrate ourselves.
who will?
The question was rhetorical.
Nothing equals the euphoria,
disappointment, bewilderment
and confusion that comes
with noting birthdays.
How far we’ve come,
how far we have to go.
How much time wasted,
how little time left
to waste or put to use.
Simone Signoret was right,
nostalgia ain’t what it used to be.
But what is?
It feels pretty good to be
one hundred thirty-three
especially since nearly half
those years belong to you
and all of them belong to us.
Could I imagine it
any other way?
Absolutely not.
Congratulations
on becoming eligible
for social security.
You have been my security,
social and otherwise,
nearly all my life.
Thank you.
