A Thought for Today

Imagination always deserves a hearing.

FROM the¨BOOKS

SANTA TO SANTA
(the 1981 Christmas Card)

To each woman
and each man
who live and run
on God’s green ground
all birds that float
within His perfect sky
and every creature
scrambling, standing, loping,
                                 turning
on or deep within His earth –
and out upon his many seas,
a wish for their protection
      for still another year.

And each to each
within their circle
                  and their species
love enough to see them through
their deepest darkest nights.

Rod's random thoughts There is no cover-up for inattention.

If our bodies are "temples of God," some of his architecture is in ruins.

Who is not a love seeker when December comes, even children pray to Santa Clause.

CONSCIENCE

The world holds dangers
darker than the dentist's chair
love is still the eye
of anything worthwhile
                  or worth having
and so we keep that one eye open.

And knowing that it goes by
multitudes of attitudes and names
it's wise to learn and not forget
the favorite name for love is conscience.

Conscience being the first thing
Christ conceived for us
must mean love is Christmas
by another name.
