A Thought for Today
God never gives any of us more than we
can handle. Stretching exercises for the mind, heart and soul are every
bit as important as push-ups for the body.

FLIGHTS FROM6THE
PAST
June 11, 1998
Rod,
I like things that show off both your seriousness about life and your
often offbeat sense of humor, that's why the June 11, 1998 Flight Plan is
one of my favorites. You give your view of The Bible as a book to be read
then turn around and do a meditation on those holiday gift catalogues that
junk up our mail boxes. A very Profound and Pfunny (or is that punny?)
Flight Plan. That day is also the day I found your Website.
Thanks, Ryan Forman, Seattle.
WHY SHOULD I READ THE BIBLE?
The scriptures contain all the most important ideas, thoughts, and master
plans for those of us who wish to come closer to God. While people will
always read into the Scriptures what they themselves need to hear, perhaps
that is as it should be. Any book as complex & complicated as the Bible is
open to many kinds of interpretations. It would be nice, however, if some
of us stopped dwelling on the fire and brimstone aspect of the Bible and
spent more time reading, re-reading, and practicing the good and more
positive thoughts to be found there.

ADDENDUM
Almighty one protect us from the latest offer from The Franklin Mint. Lead
us not into yet one more Horchow surplus gift.. We do beseech Thee to
direct the Lillian Vernon winter catalogue Speedily to more needy dwelling
place. And. Though we thumb through Sears and, verily, Roebuck, raise up
your arm to stay us from another Kitchen gimcrack coming from Williams,
yea & Sonoma via UPS or next day air.
Surely goodness and mercy will follow us down our days without The Sharper
Image ant farm, Hoferitz trimmer of great beards and smaller ones, the
Neiman Marcus makeup kit and eyelash trainer (blue or brown Please
specify.) Oh give us comfort though we can not afford The comforters of
Ralph Lauren.. Stamp thy words, Return To Sender on catalogues from L. L.
Bean. Ah men.
